About

Bina Shah is an artist currently living in Switzerland. She grew up in both traditional Iranian and Indian settings, while her formal training took place in the United States. Her work explores her own personal politics of an individual with multicultural roots, and she is often influenced by her Eastern and Western cultural experiences. Bina's work explores a variety of themes including transience, containment, beauty, and nourishment.

Many of her sculptures are made by hand from slabs and coils using both primitive and modern firing techniques. Some sculptures have been Raku or Saggar fired with metals and oxides. Bina also paints in Acrylics and Encaustic paints.

In 2014, Bina co-founded the artist collective Utsav.
